Indian team captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and elected to bowl first against South Africa. Batting first, South Africa were restricted to 99 runs in just 27.1 overs, their lowest-ever ODI total against India.

Shreyas Iyer got the job done for his team as he played an unbeaten knock of 28 runs in 23 balls, hitting a six to seal a record-breaking series win at home.
