Chattogram: Kuldeep Yadav and Cheteshwar Pujara helped India outclass Bangladesh by 188 runs in the first Test of the two-match series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
While Kuldeep Yadav claimed 8 wickets, including a five-for in the first innings, Cheteshwar starred with the scores of 90 and 102 not out.
India had declared their second innings at 258 for 2 with Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara scoring centuries. Earlier, the guests had posted 404 runs after KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bat first. Later, India bundled out Bangladesh for 150, gaining a first-innings lead of 254.
Chasing a target of 513 runs, the hosts needed 241 runs in 90 overs to win ahead of Day 5, after posting 272 for six in 102 overs at Stumps on Day 4. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan resumed batting for Bangladesh on Day 5, with the latter losing his wicket early. Meanwhile, Shakib registered a half-century after Mehidy’s departure and will be aiming to anchor his side’s innings. He is currently batting with Taijul Islam.
