Innocent girls were taken naked in Damoh for rain and roamed in the village

By fulfilling this belief, women prayed to God for rain.
People are upset due to lack of rain in Baniya village of Amdar Panchayat of Jabera block of the district. In view of the drought, according to the old belief, the small girls of the village are completely naked and a pestle is placed on their shoulders and the frog is tied in this pestle. The girls roam the whole village and the women go on singing bhajan kirtan behind them. These women ask for flour and pulses from the houses that fall on the way and the ration that is collected, leads to Bhandara in the village temple.
It is believed that doing this causes rain. This malpractice was once again carried out and in the name of custom in the village of Bania, this treatment was also done to innocent girls.
NCPCR sent notice to Damoh Collector
In this case, NCPCR has sent a notice to Damoh Collector and directed to take action in this matter within 10 days. NCPCR itself has taken cognizance in this matter under Section 13(1)(j) of 2005. In the notice issued by NCPCR, a demand has been made for the age certificate of naked girls, investigation report and other documents from the collector.
